The Cheesecake Factory will open in Plaza Las Américas in 2013
December 18, 2012—San Juan, PR-- It's official! Plaza Las Américas and the internationally renowned “The Cheesecake Factory®” confirmed today that they have signed a lease for the establishment of The Cheesecake Factory restaurant in this shopping center. The 10,000 square foot restaurant will be built adjacent to Plaza’s recently opened new front entrance and is expected to begin construction this coming January. A grand opening is slated for the third quarter of 2013.
"After several years of interest on behalf of both parties and more than a year of negotiations, I am pleased to confirm that this much-anticipated announcement is now a reality,” stated Jaime Fonalledas, President of Plaza Las Americas, Inc. "Both companies share the same commitment to excellence with Plaza carefully selecting the stores and restaurants that will best meet our customers’ expectations, and The Cheesecake Factory carefully analyzing each market it is considering, along with the possible locations, in order to properly support their brand and serve their guests. We are honored that they have selected Plaza Las Americas to make their entrance to Puerto Rico," he continued. “I applaud efforts of both teams of leasing, development, construction and legal counsel who have made this possible,” he concluded.
The Cheesecake Factory has built its worldwide reputation through its commitment to quality, hospitality and a creative menu of more than 200 items made fresh from scratch each day, in addition to more than 50 signature cheesecakes and baked desserts. They are also recognized for their generous portions, which can be shared among several people and also ordered to carry out.
“For nearly 35 years, The Cheesecake Factory has been committed to providing our guests with delicious, memorable dining experiences,” said David Overton, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of The Cheesecake Factory. “We are delighted to be continuing our global expansion with the opening of our first restaurant in Puerto Rico, and look forward to joining Plaza Las América’s impressive roster of tenants,” concluded Overton.
Mr. Fonalledas added that The Cheesecake Factory location was finalized in conjunction with the planning of the new Plaza entrance on Chardon, which had been under evaluation for several years, creating the design opportunity to meet the infrastructure and space requirements necessary for the restaurant’s building. He also indicated that future plans call for another concept on the other side of the entrance portico. To date, PLAZA has not identified the possible new concept for that location.
