  • Artisans

A group of distinguished artisans share their talent daily with our center’s visitors and showcase their works year-round at the Ricardo Alegría Cultural Hall, located on the third level, Grand Court, by the JCPenney entrance. Among the artistic disciplines showcased are: wood carvings, clay, metal, crystal, natural soaps, hammocks and typical musical instruments, among others.

Plaza Las Américas coordinates larger artisan fairs throughout the year, giving a larger number of artisans the opportunity to exhibit and sell their handcrafted works to PLAZA’s visitors. The main artisan fairs take place in January, during Easter week and in the month of June. For more information about the artisan program, please contact Mangie Figueroa al (787) 474-7451.

  • Nemesio R. Canales I Elementary School Students

Each Holiday Season, Plaza Las Américas becomes the showcase for a beautiful exhibition of Christmas artwork created by talented children from the Nemesio R. Canales I Elementary School.

As part of their class projects, the children create a drawing of “The meaning of Christmas” to them. In turn, Plaza hosts the Christmas Card Artwork Contest to select one drawing to be featured in the Shopping Center’s Holiday Cards. There is nothing better than fostering creativity among talented kids. Who knows? Maybe one of these kids will become the next great Puerto Rican painter.

"Due to the COVID-19 emergency, this activity could not be carried out in 2020."
