The top swivels toward you when you need the surface and folds flat against the frame when you do not, taking the table from 31.5 inches unfolded down to a 16-inch footprint. That is the difference between a working desk beside a bed and a piece of furniture blocking the walkway. Metal hinges do the folding, four wheels do the moving, and two brakes hold it where you stop.
