Some rooms need a surface rather than a piece of furniture. A small round table 15.7 in across does exactly that, slipping into the gap beside an armchair, at the end of a sofa, or next to a bed without announcing itself or taking space the room needs for something else. At 20 in tall it stands slightly above a typical sofa arm, which puts whatever is on it within easy sight. The round shape matters at this size more than at larger ones. A small square table has corners that catch on shins and clothes precisely because it sits low and narrow in a walkway, while a circle has nothing to snag. It also means the table looks the same from every direction, so it never needs to be aligned to anything. Particleboard and Mdf give a static load capacity of 44 lb, which is far beyond a lamp, a drink, and a book together. The whole table weighs 5.9 lb, light enough for a child to move and easy to pick up with one hand when the floor needs cleaning..
