Mesh shelves rather than solid board is a deliberate choice and it changes where this unit can be used. Air passes through, water drains rather than pooling, and dirt falls through instead of collecting, which makes mesh the right surface for shoes, sports kit, garden tools, or anything that comes in from outside still wet. The tabletop is solid and rated to 44 lb, so the top works as a landing surface for keys, post, a lamp, or a bag while the mesh tiers below take the things that need to breathe. Each mesh shelf carries 44 lb as well, which is generous and means boots and equipment rather than only light items. The unit measures 40 in wide by 13.8 in deep and stands 31.5 in tall, which is table height rather than shelf height. That matters because the top surface ends up in daily use, and at 31.5 in it is at the level where things get put down without bending. Particleboard on a steel frame brings the assembled weight to 30.2 lb, solid enough to stay put in a hallway where it gets brushed past constantly.
