Corduroy is an unusual choice for a storage bench and a good one. The ribbed texture catches light differently across its length, which gives a long low piece of furniture some visual interest that a flat weave never provides, and it feels warm under the hand in a way that synthetic leather does not. In a bedroom or a reading corner that difference is the whole point. The bench measures 43 in wide by 15 in deep and 15 in tall, sized for the foot of a queen bed or a run of wall beneath a window. Inside, 35 Gal of enclosed storage handles a season of bedding, spare pillows, or the soft things that have no other home. The lid is padded with high-resilience foam, which is the grade that recovers its shape rather than compressing permanently where people habitually sit.Static load capacity is rated to 660 lb, so it is real seating rather than a decorative box, and the Mdf frame keeps the assembled bench at 19.4 lb. The apricot tone is warm without being loud, reading as a soft accent against neutral walls rather than a statement piece that has to be designed around. It folds down when empty, which keeps it from becoming permanent furniture before you have decided it should be.
