A platform bed should disappear into the room and let the mattress do its job, and this full size wooden frame does exactly that while quietly adding storage. Clean lines and a smooth-faced headboard keep the silhouette simple, so the bed works with modern, coastal or minimal bedrooms rather than fighting the decor already in place.Construction runs deeper than the look. Solid wood, plywood, engineered wood and Mdf build an enclosed frame that stands on sturdy legs, with three middle support legs strengthening the center where beds usually give out first. Eight robust plywood slats carry the mattress across a 76 x 54 in surface, so there is no need for a box spring and no hollow bounce when you sit on the edge. Two drawers slide out on metal runners with sleek round knobs, each opening to a 24.5 x 13 x 5 in interior that holds up to 50 lbs of bedding, clothing or anything the closet cannot take. Because the base is enclosed, the usual under-bed dust trap is closed off, which makes the bedroom easier to keep clean week to week. The frame measures 79.5 x 56.5 x 40.5 in overall with a 15.5 in footboard and is rated to 400 lbs, and an embedded platform keeps the mattress from creeping out of place. It ships flat with a user manual, and assembly is required.
