An elevated metal raised garden bed that stands on its own legs, measuring 40 by 16 by 32 in with a planting trough 38 by 14.5 by 9 in inside and rated to hold 110 lbs of soil and water. The whole point of the leg height is that the soil arrives at waist level: tending the bed means standing rather than kneeling on the ground or bending down over a low border, and the same lift carries the crop above where animals browse. Nine inches of trough depth is enough for the root run of flowers, herbs, vegetables and fruits alike, and drainage holes in the base let irrigation water pass through instead of pooling around the roots. Construction is metal throughout. The panels shrug off the weather and resist the rust that would eat through untreated steel over a season outdoors, and the screws that join them are heavy enough to pull the panels square without stripping, so assembly goes quickly and the finished frame stays rigid. Two details matter once hands are in the bed daily. Every top edge is rolled over rather than left as a raw cut sheet, and the corners carry protective caps, so reaching in to weed or harvest does not mean scraping a forearm on a metal lip. Underneath, foot pads spread the load across each leg to keep the bed from sinking into soft earth or sliding on a hard surface. The empty bed weighs 17 lbs before filling.
