A single high back folding boat seat rated to 250 lbs, built around aluminum hinges rather than the stamped steel pivots that seize once salt gets into them. Those hinges are what give the seat its combination of rigidity and easy motion: the backrest stays solid under a leaning adult, yet folds forward smoothly with one hand and repeats that action season after season without developing play. The backrest itself is tall and ergonomically shaped, carrying support all the way up to the shoulder blades so the weight of the upper body rests against the seat instead of being held by the lower back on a long run. Underneath the cover is a soft sponge cushion that takes the sting out of chop, and the cover is waterproof PVC that sheds spray and dries in the sun rather than soaking it up. Upright, the seat measures 17.5 by 20 by 24 inches; folded, it drops to 17 by 20 by 13 inches, roughly half its standing height, and a tie-down strap holds it closed so it stays that way through storage or trailering. The frame combines aluminum, PP and glassfiber, which is how the whole seat weighs only 10 lbs when lifted off the base. It bolts to any standard 4-bolt swivel or pedestal, sold separately, so it can replace a worn seat on an existing base.
