Thirty-three gallons of enclosed space under the seat is where cushions, garden tools or pool towels live, and a liner inside keeps damp off whatever is stored. Eucalyptus is the timber - dense, slow to crack, and waterproofed by the slat finish - carrying 700 lbs across a 42 x 23 x 35.5 in frame. Net weight is 43 lbs. As a bench it seats two by a back door; as a box it replaces a plastic deck chest that would look out of place on a wooden porch. The hinged lid does both jobs without any conversion.
