Three clipped boxwood spheres stack up the trunk of this 47-inch topiary, a shape that takes years of pruning on a live shrub and none at all here. Gradient green PE leaves catch light the way new growth does, and the trunk and vines are real wood, so the join between pot and foliage does not read as plastic. Sun resistance is built into the leaf material, which means the piece can stand at a front door, on a balcony or beside a garden gate without bleaching out over a season. The 10 by 7.5 inch pot is poured with cement, giving the 12 lb tree a low center of gravity that keeps it upright in a gust, and the pot itself carries a vintage texture. Cleaning amounts to a wipe, and there is no watering, feeding or trimming to schedule.
