Finished in khaki and green, this bell tent is built on an Oxford fabric shell bonded to a PVC netted groundsheet, so the sleeping area is closed off from ground damp and crawling insects without laying a separate tarp underneath. The two leak points that ruin most nights are addressed directly: a rainproof cap covers the pole opening at the peak, and splash-proof zippers keep run-off from wicking in through the door seams. Ventilation is handled in both directions. Mesh windows and mesh door panels open for cross-flow when the air is warm, and top vents near the peak release the warm damp air that would otherwise settle on the inner wall as overnight condensation. When the temperature drops the other way, a stove jack built into the wall lets a compatible heat source be vented through the shell properly rather than improvised. The frame is a single center steel pole, and 2.2 feet of vertical side wall carries the roof out over the perimeter, so cots, bags and chairs can sit against the wall instead of crowding the middle. The M footprint here measures 13.5 by 7.2 feet with a 6.3-foot doorway and holds four to six people; the same shell is also made at 16.7 by 9.8 feet for six to eight and 10 by 6.5 feet for two to four. Setup runs through four steps, and glow-in-the-dark guy lines adjust individually to tension the shell evenly on uneven ground. A zippered reversed cable hole passes a power lead inside, storage pockets hold phones, eyeglasses and chargers, the center pole carries a hanging loop for a lamp, and the 37-pound M shell packs into the carrying bag.
