The middle tube decides which half you are in: installed, the rim sets to 8, 8.5, 9, 9.5 or 10 ft with a total height of 10 to 12 ft; removed, it drops to 4.9, 5.4, 5.9, 6.4 or 6.9 ft with a total height of 6.9 to 8.9 ft overall. Check the clearance above the spot against whichever configuration will be used, because the two differ by more than 3 ft at the top. Adjustment is one-handed, so a height change between players does not turn into a two-person job.
