Freestanding steel construction means this rack needs no wall studs, so a rented garage or a dock deck works as well as a finished boathouse. Two removable hooks hold a pair of kayaks and set to six different heights, which matters when one boat is a short sit-on-top and the other a long touring hull. The stand measures 8 feet wide, 2.5 feet deep and 4.5 feet tall and carries up to 175 pounds across both cradles. Powder coating over heavy gauge steel resists corrosion in damp storage, and anti-UV covers on the hooks stop the metal from marking gel coat. Adjustable pads on the feet level the frame on an uneven slab, and nail holes in the base let it be pinned down so wind cannot tip it. The rack also suits paddle boards and canoes, and its own weight of 50.5 pounds adds ballast.
