A single frosted glass globe of 9 inches tops this 65-inch post, throwing light in every direction rather than down a cone, which suits a corner that needs filling rather than a task light. A3 steel keeps the slim post from bending, and the weighted base holds it steady where children or pets pass. The foot switch on the cord turns it on without a reach. Its E26 holder takes a bulb up to 60W on 120V and 60Hz, sold separately, so you set the warmth yourself. The gold finish reads modern, minimalist, industrial or mid-century depending on what sits around it, and the whole lamp weighs 9 pounds.
