Laying 27 tiles turns a plain concrete slab into a wood deck without a contractor. The raised polypropylene base under each 12 in square is the part that matters: diamond ribbing holds the acacia 1 in clear of the ground so rain runs off and air keeps the timber dry between showers. Hooks along the edges lock adjoining tiles together, and two installation patterns let the slats run in line or alternate for a woven look. Natural acacia takes weather well and can be hosed down when pollen or spilled drinks land on it. Every tile is rated to 500 lbs, so garden furniture and planters sit on it safely, and the set weighs 43 lbs in the box. Nothing has to be screwed down.
