A pair of mid-century side chairs sets a molded shell seat on four splayed beech wood legs, giving a kitchen or breakfast nook a lighter look than boxy upholstered seating. The shell narrows at the waist and scoops through the seat, so the shape does the supporting instead of thick foam. At 17-in seat height and 22-in deep, both chairs tuck under standard tables and take up to 300 lbs each. A damp cloth clears crumbs and coffee rings straight off the shell, and there is no fabric to spot-clean. With no arms and no casters, either chair also works at a writing desk. Assembly is required.
