Cushioned seats separate this set from bare metal folding chairs. A foam pad sits under fabric on both the 16 by 16 inch seat and the 18 by 14 inch backrest, which makes a two-hour dinner or a study session far easier to sit through. The powder-coated steel frame holds 265 lbs and resists rust, so the chairs can spend an evening on a covered porch. Each one folds in about a second to 3.5 inches thick, and the four together weigh 35 lbs, so the whole set can be tucked behind a sofa or into a closet after guests leave. Fabric surfaces wipe down after spills. Extra seating for a card table, a home office or a rented hall stays out of sight until it is wanted.
